I've been attempting to create the look of rocks under water for several years now. The rocks themselves are simple enough shapes, with interesting variety of colours and textures, but it's the water itself that makes it tricky. Water refracts light, in dynamic and unique ways. Sometimes it reflects onto the rocks below leaving lines of white or brightness. Sometimes it shines off the water and obscures what's below, and sometimes it distorts the colours and shapes completely leaving me with a more abstract look. This image has unique textures on the rocks that the water has enhanced while it moves through the center of the composition.
