The New York Public Library is a vast and beautiful building. There are immense corridors, hallways and stairwells that create beautiful spaces and quiet corners. I wanted this painting to celebrate more than one of the grandiose spaces within this public space at the same time. That, combined with the beauty of the stonework and windows compelled me to capture this space with watercolour.
