Body of Work > THE COAST

Whenever I see a Marina full of boats docked and ready to be taken out to sea, I immediately want to capture it. There's something calming and peaceful about the rhythmic bobbing and rocking of boats tethered to the the dock. Visually, the repetition of shapes, (like masts or ropes), interesting textures, and reflections in the water inspire me to draw.
The industrial, functional purpose of fishing boats particularly interest me. They are not meant to be pretty, and they often show their age, but that's what I like about them. These boats have stories to share. There is beauty in that.
