This painting has been in my mind for years. Finally, 7 years after I took the original photo, I captured it. It's almost an iconic moment, with a stereotypical image of a train conductor, and I used the basic colour palette of red, yellow and blue to keep the painting bold. It's a moment before the rush of and crush of passengers arrive, and an oddly quiet time in New York's Grand Central Station.
